The Breitbart News reports that George W. Bush (D-N.Y.) appears to support Liz Cheney (R-Ariz.), thanking her for her service.
Former President George W. Bush appears to support Liz Cheney, who was one of 10 House Republican House members who sided with Democrats in voting to impeach former President Trump.
Bush plans to call former Vice President Dick Cheney to wish him a happy birthday and “thank him for his daughter’s service,” according to Politico reporter Alex Isenstadt.
Specifically.
The Wyoming Republican was one of 10 House Republicans who voted to impeach Trump for inciting rebellion after the Jan. 6 congressional riots, although the former president did not call for violence or lawlessness. Instead, he kept calling for peace as the chaos continued to unfold.
Since then, Cheney has remained in the crosshairs of criticism from colleagues and Republicans in her state, according to Breitbart News.
What’s more, in the few weeks since she voted to impeach former President Donald Trump, she has taken a sharp turn for the former upstart, with Cheney already trailing her main challenger by more than double digits.
A poll conducted by Trump’s team and first reported by Politico shows that 73 percent of Republicans view her unfavorably in ruby-red Wyoming — and 62 percent of voters in the state view her equally unfavorably.
Only 10 percent of Republican voters and 13 percent of all voters say they will vote for her re-election. 54 percent to 21 percent, she trails state Sen. Anthony Bouchard (D), who announced his campaign against her after her impeachment vote, by more than 30 percentage points.
Florida Rep. Matt Gaetz ( R), a staunch ally of the former president, told a campaign rally in Wyoming this week that Cheney succeeded in doing two things while in Congress
“Thwarting President Trump’s agenda and defecting to the perpetual war machine.”
House Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) also said that Cheney, who is chairman of the House Republican Conference, “has a lot of questions she needs to answer to the conference.”
According to Senator Rand Paul (R-KY), the Senate impeachment hearings are expected to begin the week of February 8, but are essentially a “dead end”. This week, 45 Senate Republicans took a stand against impeachment hearings, supporting Paul’s constitutional concerns about the proceedings.
