Confronting the Chinese Communist Party Three Trump Administration Officials Join Conservative Think Tank

Three former senior homeland security officials who served in the Trump administration are joining the Heritage Foundation, a conservative think tank. Their focus will include countering the Chinese Communist threat.

Former Acting Secretary of Homeland Security Chad Wolf, former Deputy Secretary of Homeland Security Ken Cuccinelli and former Acting Director of Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Mark Morgan will join the Heritage Foundation effective Feb. 1. “as a fellow at the Davis Institute for National Security and Foreign Policy.

“With the addition of Chad Wolfe, Ken Cuccinelli and Mark Morgan, the Heritage Foundation has assembled an all-star team with significant policy expertise on issues related to homeland security, immigration and China.” Kay James, president of the Heritage Foundation, said in a statement.

“The Heritage Foundation has been a leading voice in shaping these policy issues,” James added, “and we are now taking our work to a new level as we confront an emboldened Biden administration that seeks to undo many of the accomplishments of the past four years. “

The three former officials, each of whom will work at the think tank in areas that reflect their respective areas of responsibility while serving under Trump, will all three be involved in some way in addressing the threat posed by the Communist regime.

Chad Wolf will work on projects related to national security, China and cyber policy, and will offer insights on how the Communist Party affects homeland security.

“Chad has never backed down in the face of national unrest, growing hostility from China (the Chinese Communist Party), and other threats that the United States continues to face.” James said.

In a statement, the Heritage Foundation said Ken Cuccinelli will focus on immigration and border security issues and will also “provide insights on which immigration programs are used and utilized by Chinese citizens and make recommendations on how the current administration should check and balance the Chinese Communist Party.”

“President Trump selected Ken to serve as Deputy Secretary of Homeland Security, where he continues to reform the U.S. immigration system; work to combat the scourge of human trafficking; actively participate in the Vice President’s COVID Task Force; and oversee the protection of federal personnel and facilities during last year’s civil unrest.” James said.

Mark Morgan will work on border, immigration and public safety policy, as well as China-related asylum issues.

“Mark has proven that common sense solutions can reduce illegal immigration and improve the safety and security of our nation.” James said.

The three are Trump Administration officials who recently joined the conservative U.S. think tank. Former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo joined the Hudson Institut earlier this week.

“I am excited to join the Hudson Institute and look forward to contributing to its mission of promoting American leadership and global engagement.” Pompeo said.

The institute, which has a strong reputation among conservative think tanks, said in a statement that Pompeo will join the institute as a distinguished fellow.

“As secretary of state, he has successfully led U.S. foreign policy to address a range of geopolitical challenges, including religious freedom, human rights and countering threats from authoritarian powers such as China (Communist Party of China), North Korea, Russia and Iran.In 2019, the Hudson Institute awarded Pompeo the Secretary of State Herman Kahn Award).” The statement said.
