Republican U.S. Sen. Bill Hagerty (R-Tenn.) has hired 13 former Trump Administration employees to work in his Washington, D.C., office, including former White House deputy press secretary Judd Deere.
Hagerty, from Tennessee, officially took office as a U.S. senator on Jan. 3. Hagerty served as U.S. ambassador to Japan from 2017 to 2019. He said his new team, led by Chief of Staff (Chief of Staff) John Rader, are seasoned professionals who “will serve our state and country well.”
“Under John Rader’s leadership and with the senior team I have assembled, I am confident that this talented team will redouble its efforts to meet the needs of the people of Tennessee and our nation,” Hagerty said. Hagerty said.
Redd is a former deputy assistant to the president for strategic initiatives and was part of Trump’s 2016 presidential transition team. Former White House intern Addison Osborne will work under him.
Deal, Trump’s former deputy White House press secretary, will be a spokesman for Sen. Hagerty. Julia Hahn, a former deputy assistant to Trump, will work in communications for Senator Hagerty.
Haggerty’s policy team also includes several former Trump administration officials: Adam Telle, who led the Senate team in the White House Office of Legislative Affairs; Jonathan Greenstein, who served as deputy assistant secretary of the Treasury; Robert Zarate, a former State Department policy planning staffer; and Robert Zarate, a former national security officer. Zarate; retired Colonel Joel Rayburn, former senior director for Iran, Iraq, Syria and Lebanon at the National Security Council; Natalie McIntyre, former deputy director for legislative affairs at the White House Office of Management and Budget; and Lucas Da Pieve, former director of digital response at the White House. Kevin Kim, a former senior adviser to the president’s special envoy for arms control in the Trump administration, and Rachel Leong, who worked in the White House Office of Legislative Affairs, will also work for Congressman Hagerty.
The formation of Hagerty’s team comes as some leftist groups urge companies not to hire former Trump administration officials.
“American Oversight and Accountable.US have launched a campaign called “Campaign Against Corporate Complicity “US, an initiative aimed at tracking which companies hire former top administration officials.
Deere tweeted that he was honored to be part of “this talented team. In an interview with Politico, Senator Haggerty told the people of Tennessee to send him to Washington to build on the success of President Trump, and there is no better way to do that than to hire the best people from the outgoing administration, Deal said.
