On Thursday, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi referred to lawmakers who carry guns in self-defense as the “enemy within.
Joel Pollak of Breitbart News reported on Pelosi’s statement, in which she expressed her position on lawmakers who want to be armed for self-defense.
In a tweet, reporter Pollak said, “Speaker Pelosi referred to certain lawmakers as the ‘enemy within,’ and when asked what she meant, she said that some lawmakers want to carry guns (like Lauren Boebert, who legally carries), so you exercise your Second Amendment powers after a terrible riot, you are ‘the enemy’.”
Lauren Boebert (R-CA) is the co-chair of the Congressional Second Amendment Caucus and has been outspoken in her commitment to carry a gun in Washington, D.C.
In an exclusive interview with Breitbart News on Dec. 23, 2020, Boebert said, “I am my guarantee.
She added: Washington, D.C., like most Democratic-run states, has a violent crime problem, so of course I need a way to keep myself safe, so I will carry a gun every single day.
In the wake of the January 6, 2021 riots at the Capitol, Breitbart News reported on Congressman Thomas Massie, another co-chair of the Congressional Second Amendment Caucus, who spoke about how comforting it is to be armed when rioters attack.
Rep. Massie said, “The next member of Congress who thinks members of Congress shouldn’t be allowed to carry guns is sure to be laughed at outside the Capitol. “
