The Gateway Pundit reports that pro-Trump meme maker “Ricky Vaughn” has been indicted – and faces 10 years in prison – for using Twitter to “spread election disinformation” to Hillary Clinton voters in 2016.
A pro-Trump segment maker was indicted by the FBI on Wednesday for using the social media platform to ‘spread election disinformation’ to Hillary Clinton voters in 2016.
“Ricky Vaughn,” also known as Douglass Mackey, used Twitter to post segments and hurled insults at Hillary Clinton during the 2016 presidential election cycle.
Ricky, 31, was arrested in West Palm Beach on one count of conspiracy to violate rights and faces up to 10 years in prison.
According to the unsealed indictment, Mackey conspired with others on Twitter to encourage blacks to vote via text message.
The Eastern District of New York said in the indictment that a week before the 2016 election, McGee tweeted an image of a black woman in front of an “African Americans for President Hillary” sign.
The image carried the message: “Avoid the lines and vote from Home. Text ‘Hillary’ to 59925 to vote for Hillary and be a part of history.
According to the complaint, more than 4,900 people ‘voted via text message’.
Buzzfeed News says they sent a text message to the number and Hillary Clinton’s campaign actually responded and redirected people to the proper channels.
So how many people just sent a text message out of curiosity and didn’t really fall for it?
The most chilling part of the indictment is the criminalization of normal political speech and banter, the report said.
“Beginning at least in 2015, McGee was involved in a large number of DMs groups . These groups sometimes included dozens of people, sometimes with overlapping membership, and served as forums where participants shared their views on how best to influence elections, among other things. Among other things, McGee and members of these groups used the DMs groups to create, refine, and share segments and hashtags, which members of these groups would then post and disseminate.”
One example of criminal conduct describes McGee and his friends joking around in private groups on Twitter, trolling the “Dog*Libs” with segments.
“For example, on or about December 22, 2015, McGee and his cohorts exchanged segment-related messages in Fed Free Hatechat suggesting that certain voters were hiding that they wanted to vote for one of the two major political parties’ presidential candidates (“Candidate 2”). “This is actually a great segment to spread and make all these dog* liberals think their friends are secretly voting for (Candidate 2),” McKee said using the McKee account1. A Twitter user who participated in the group conversation described it as a “perfect psyop,” to which McGee later replied, “We’ve hit the mother lode of segment magic. The next day, McGee retweeted a tweet containing one of the discussed segments using McGee’s account1 with the following text: “If you need support, I’m here in private #(candidate2).”
The Gateway Pundit commented that the federal government has criminalized political speech in order to lock up Trump supporters.
What’s worse is that the forces of the U.S. government that were unleashed to illegally spy on Trump’s 2016 campaign went to jail without anyone going to jail.
