“Adam Schiff and Brennan are stronger domestic enemies and more dangerous,” Democratic congresswoman criticizes

Former Hawaii U.S. Rep. Tulsi Gabbard (D-Hawaii), who was involved in the 2020 Democratic presidential primary, claimed that tech industry leaders and Democrats such as California Rep. Adam Schiff (D) and former CIA Director John Brennan (D) are America’s “domestic enemies” who are more dangerous than the rioters who stormed the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6.

The former Democratic presidential candidate condemned the violent protesters in a video and post on Twitter Tuesday morning, but warned that efforts to combat the insurgency through surveillance and other monitoring activities pose a greater threat to the country, the American Express compiled.

“The mob that stormed the Capitol on Jan. 6 to try to prevent Congress from fulfilling its constitutional responsibilities acted like domestic enemies of our country,” Gabbard said, “but let’s be clear, Brennan, Adam Schiff and the oligarchs of Big Tech are trying to undermine our constitutionally protected rights and turn our country into a police state with KGB-style surveillance, they are also domestic enemies – and more powerful, and therefore more dangerous, than the mob that stormed the Capitol.”

Gabbard then played a clip of Brennan telling MSNBC that Biden‘s nominees and appointees “are now acting in a laser-like fashion to try to expose as much as possible” about activities he said are reminiscent of “insurgent movements” that have sprung up in other countries “.

House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff has introduced a bill in 2019 that would create new regulations for federal domestic terrorism crimes. The bill does recognize the potential for abuse by requiring a report on civil liberties issues raised by the new statute to be published within four years of the bill’s passage and enactment.

Another 2019 bill, introduced by Illinois Sen. Dick Durbin (D), calls for the creation of an office of “analysis and monitoring of domestic terrorist activity” in the Department of Justice, the FBI and the Department of Homeland Security.

Since the Jan. 6 riots, lawmakers in Washington have revisited the domestic terrorism bill, leading civil rights groups to push back, saying federal authorities already have the tools they need to stop criminals and don’t need to give them additional powers.

Meanwhile, social media companies such as Twitter and Facebook have been blocking accounts that they say post inflammatory statements, including those of former President Trump.

Gabbard called on Biden and lawmakers of both parties not to allow measures that violate the rights of Americans in the name of law enforcement.

She said, “President Biden, I call on you and all members of Congress from both parties to condemn the efforts of Brennan and others to deny us the civil liberties that have been given to us by our Creator and are guaranteed in our Constitution. If you do not stand up to them now, then our nation is in great danger.”
