The countdown to the U.S. presidential election is winding down, with Democratic candidate Biden leading Trump by a slight margin in Georgia. Georgia officials say a recount will take place because the votes were too close to call. This will make Georgia the first post-election state to have a recount.
AFP reports that Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger told reporters in the capital, Atlanta, today that “the (vote) margin was so narrow that Georgia will have a recount.”
He said, because Trump and Biden in Georgia votes “too close, it is still difficult to distinguish the winner.
There are 16 electoral votes of Georgia currently open 99% of the votes, the two received the same 49.4% of the vote, Biden is temporarily leading by more than 1500 votes.
In addition, Georgia also played a key role in the congressional elections, is the only United States this year to re-elect two senators of the state, meaning that the results of the election will determine the Democratic Party or the Republican Party who will dominate the Senate.
