Trump establishes official platform for “former president’s office” in Florida

On Monday, Jan. 25, Donald Trump announced the creation of an official “Office of the Former President” in Palm Beach County, Florida, setting the stage for future public appearances and statements. According to a statement from the agency, Trump will continue to use the office to promote his “America First” agenda.

“Today, Donald J. Trump, the 45th president of the United States, officially opened the Office of the Former President,” the office said in its first statement, “which will be responsible for managing President Trump’s correspondence, public statements , appearances and official events to promote the interests of the United States and carry out the Trump Administration‘s agenda through advocacy, organizing and public action.”

“President Trump will always be and has always been a champion for the American people,” the statement concluded.

CNN White House correspondent Kaitlan Collins confirmed that the office will be run by a former Trump White House aide and will operate out of Palm Beach, Fla. Other U.S. media reporters said they received the first emailed statement from the “former president’s office.

In the wake of the Jan. 6 congressional riots, Twitter and other big tech companies terminated Trump’s account, leaving him without a platform to post public comments since he left the White House for his Sea Lake estate in Florida last week. It is expected that the “former president’s office” will become the official channel for Trump’s messages.

Former Trump adviser Jason Miller said last week that President Trump would use his Time out of office to advocate for the integrity of national elections and would use his dynamic influence to help Republicans win congressional elections in 2022. Miller later also dismissed the notion that Trump would create a third political party.

After leaving office, Trump had announced his support for the second-term Arizona Republican Party chairmanship re-election campaign of Celli Ward, who was subsequently re-elected in that role.

Even though he has left office, Trump is still facing a challenge to his impeachment in the Senate on Feb. 8. U.S. media outlet The Hill reported that Trump has prepared a defense team for February’s Senate impeachment hearings, and that Trump has not yet issued a public comment on the matter.
