Holly: Communist China-style social credit scoring system enters the U.S.

U.S. Sen. Josh Hawley (R-Texas) warned Sunday (24) that a Communist China-style social credit scoring system is being introduced to the United States in the form of a “Culture of abolition.

In an article in the New York Post on Sunday, Hawley said, “Everyone knows what a credit score is. But social credit scoring is something new. It is the latest import from Communist China. There, the government and big business spy on the social views and speech of every citizen.”

“It is the latest form of the ‘culture of cancellation’ in this country as big business monopolizes, and the left colludes to silence, speech they don’t like and impose its political agenda on America.”

He added, “Those who still believe in free speech and the First Amendment should take a stand (against it).”

In recent weeks, Hawley and Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) have come under fire for challenging the election results in a joint session of Congress on Jan. 6. Some Democrats have claimed the two helped instigate the violence that occurred at the Capitol that day.

A publisher canceled Hawley’s upcoming book. A campaign fundraiser was also canceled by a hotel chain. There have also been calls for his resignation.

Hawley added, “It’s going to get worse. The tech giant has already kicked out dozens of conservatives from social media. If they do whatever they want, half of the House Republican Conference will be expelled from Congress. The corporate giants seem to believe that the only way to make democracy to their liking is to remove all threats to the Democrats’ unified control of government.”

The Communist Party-backed social credit system seeks to punish alleged violations, such as supporting Falun Gong (a persecuted faith group), Uighurs or Tibetans, criticizing the government, making late payments, etc. Penalties may include bans on travel abroad, public transportation, hotels, employment in certain positions, or blacklisting.

As the “culture of cancellation” intensifies, conservatives are under more duress, Hawley noted.

“When Amazon can shut down your ‘conservative’ social platform, it’s not worth much. Your vote may still be yours, but if the monopoly won’t let your party have the means to organize effectively, then it won’t win. Your church, you can still go to for now, but (if) you go to the wrong church, you could be out of a job in a few years.” He wrote.

“Me, for example, I wouldn’t back down.” Hawley said, “My book will be published, and I will continue to represent the people of my state without fear or favor, no matter what the left or those corporations say.”

Hawley believes it’s Time for those who hold the First Amendment dear to their hearts to take a stand.

“Powerful people now see an opportunity to consolidate their control over society and silence dissent,” he wrote, “which means that those who believe in the First Amendment and the fundamental principles of American liberty must now take a stand (against it).”
