Darkness in D.C.: White House and Washington Monument Lighting Goes Out; National Park Service Investigating

U.S. media gateway experts reported Monday (Jan. 25) that the lights outside the Washington Monument and at the White House went out Sunday night, and no one seems to know why.

The National Park Service tweeted at nearly 9 p.m. Sunday that they were “investigating and will fix it as soon as possible.

The park service has announced that the monument will be closed due to the Wuhan virus outbreak, telling CBS that the closure has nothing to do with the lights going out. As of 3 a.m. local Time, the Park Service had not provided any information.

Fortunately, the lights going out did not affect the aerial lighting on top of the monument.
