Cynicism is a philosophical trend that originated in ancient Greece, which advocates self-appreciation and a return to nature, and is similar to the teachings of Laozhuang in China.
The original cynics, despite their strange and cynical behavior, were proud of the powerful and unrestrained, and were not lacking in praiseworthy aspects. However, with the development and evolution of the times, this doctrine gradually degenerated, and nowadays, cynics have become synonymous with insensitivity, worldliness, and carelessness, and their philosophy in the world can be summarized in two words: distrust of human sincerity and indifference to the suffering of others.
In real Life, we meet many cynics – although these people may not know what a cynic is, much less that they are one. Talk to them and the standard statement they answer you with is, “Does it work? Can you change it?”
These people seem to see through everything and don’t care about anything but their own little lives. They believe that “whatever exists is reasonable,” so they have no sense of good or evil, doubt sincerity, let hypocrisy go, take injustice for granted, and resign themselves to evil. They feel that all efforts to change the status quo are futile and may even lead to trouble, so it is wise to adapt to the status quo and take things as they come.
“Does it work? Can you change?” –These words not only contain cowardice and peace, but also contain sarcasm and mockery. In their eyes, whether the status quo is good or bad, good or bad, all they have to do is to adapt.
A “mentor” on the haze of the high theory, can be used as a cynic’s motto: “the sky is dark a BJ city, what you can do is try not to go out, not to compete with it. Close the doors and windows, try not to let the haze into the Home; open the air purifier, try not to let the haze into the lungs; if this is useless, only with their own spiritual protection, not to let the haze into the heart.” –This is the “wisdom” of the cynics, who escape rather than try to change the situation. They are not ashamed of this kind of “wisdom”, but proudly show it off, just like Ah Q showing off the mange on his head.
So, how is such “wisdom” made? Long-term uninterrupted indoctrination will form a self-consciousness in the brain of the indoctrinated, and this self-consciousness will guide his behavior as a conditioned reflex. If he receives a cynical Education, then submissiveness must become his dominant concept, this concept makes him dull to good and evil, right and wrong, to all that may affect his interests, especially after his unprincipled obedience to get some benefit, this concept will be strengthened and sublimated to his “wisdom “.
In this regard, the canine is also “wise”, even the example of the cynic. Whether the owner treats it well or badly, whether the environment is good or bad, canines will not try to change, and it is their nature to take things as they come. Even if they are discarded by their owners, they will only wag their tails and beg for mercy, and will never have a hint of resistance.
Cynics, as they are called, are a good match for some people.
However, the cynics seem to have forgotten one thing: the world is actually changing!
The night before Bruno was tied to the stake, someone must have advised him to give up heliocentrism and admonished him, “Does it work? Can you change it?”
The night before the Tans were marched to Cai Shi Kou, someone must have advised them to give up on changing the law and chided them, “Does it work? Can you change it?”
Havel, who insisted on the “power of the powerless,” and even the famous Milan Kundera persuaded and ridiculed him: “Will it work? Can you change?”
So now look! Anyone who lives can see that – it works! Can change!
Compared to those who “march to the drum of their own conscience,” the cynic’s toothlessness, worldliness, and meticulousness are ultimately due to the slumber of conscience. When the conscience is asleep, good and evil are confused in their eyes.
The canine cannot distinguish between good and evil, because it has no conscience.
