No lunch is widely known as a slimming diet, but the latest research published in the journal “Nutrition” (Nutrients) by Osaka University in Japan found that skipping dinner may make you fat.
According to the FOSS News, the Osaka University research team spent three years observing the health records of 17,573 male and 8,860 female students and was surprised to find that subjects who regularly skipped dinner were likely to gain weight or become overweight.
The researchers noted that 10.8 percent of men who gained weight and 17.1 percent of women who gained weight had in common that they skipped dinner and were more likely to be obese than those who skipped breakfast or lunch. In addition, compared with subjects who ate dinner, those who skipped dinner were usually older, slept less and had drinking or smoking habits.
It is not clear why skipping dinner leads to weight gain, but the team theorizes that this eating pattern causes more hunger and can’t help but eat more at other times, so skipping dinner may have a potential relationship with weight.
The researchers pointed out that such results confirm that in addition to breakfast, which is often discussed in the past, dinner may also be an important Life factor in preventing obesity.
