Australian authorities said today that Canadian-Chinese drug lord Tse Chi Lop (Tse Chi Lop) has been arrested in the Netherlands. He is said to be the head of Asia’s largest criminal organization, likened to Asia’s version of Mexico’s drug kingpin Guzman, and one of the world’s most wanted men.
Australian authorities said in a statement today that a man of “significant importance” to law enforcement agencies has been arrested. An Australian police spokesman confirmed that the man’s name is Xie Zhiluo.
The 57-year-old, who has been wanted by Australian authorities for years, was finally arrested by Dutch police at the request of the Australian Federal Police on the 22nd of this month. Australia’s attorney general will now begin preparing a formal request for his extradition so that he can be tried in Australia.
He has been compared to Mexican drug lord Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman. Tse has been named by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) as a possible leader of Asia’s mega gang, Sam Gor. This criminal group is a major global manufacturer and supplier of methamphetamine (methamphetamine).
The Sam Gor group is believed to have laundered billions of dollars in drug proceeds through its extensive casino, hotel and real estate operations in the Mekong region of Southeast Asia.
Australian police said the 22 arrests were made as part of an anti-narcotics mission. The mission resulted in 27 arrests between 2012 and 2013 in connection with a five-country crime syndicate accused of importing large quantities of heroin and methamphetamine into Australia. Australia has long been seen as a lucrative market for drug traffickers.
Raids launched by Australian police across Melbourne (Melbourne) that year resulted in the seizure of $9 million worth of cash, designer bags, gambling chips and jewelry.
Now nearly 10 years after the mission began, Tse Chi Lok has finally been arrested, a major breakthrough for Australian authorities.
