According to Andy Ngo, a journalist and expert on anarcho-communist organizations. “Antifa was tweeting weeks in advance, planning and promoting riots in Portland and Seattle, and Twitter did nothing to stop the content that incited and organized the riots.
On Jan. 20, Joe Biden was sworn in as the 46th president of the United States. Hours later, at least 150 people gathered and participated in violence and vandalism in Portland and Seattle.
During the riots last Wednesday (Jan. 20), rioters in Portland smashed windows and vandalized offices at the local Democratic Party headquarters, KOMO reported. And in Seattle, militants stormed the iconic Pike Place Market, smashing parts of the property, spray-painting anarchist signs on the building and smashing windows and windows of several buildings, including the federal building William Kenzo Nakamura Courthouse windows.
In an interview with American Thought Leaders, Ngo said, “There were pre-planned and organized violent riots in Seattle and Portland at the same Time, and also advertised on Twitter weeks in advance.”
In response, he said, ” Twitter did nothing to shut down some of the accounts that incited these riots.”
Ngo noted that “Rose City Antifa” is the largest and longest-running Antifa group, and that it has a huge reach with thousands of followers.
The journalist said Antifa, which has a strong presence in the northwestern United States, has a formal membership process. These include “radicalization, training, and reading extremist literature. He noted that this is “very similar to what Islamists do to radicalize ordinary Muslims to their worldview.”
In the interview, Ngo also revealed that Antifa “took over the streets of Portland and blocked traffic” that day, then marched “unimpeded” to the Democratic Party headquarters in Oregon.
They destroyed it and broke every window,” he added. Some of them actually came with Molotov cocktails, but they were later arrested by police.” The group appears to have planned to set fire to the place.
The journalist noted that several of the media outlets present at the time seemed to turn a blind eye to the destruction, effectively providing cover for Antifa.
Police have now arrested eight suspects following Wednesday’s riot in Oregon, according to the Portland Police Bureau. And the Seattle Police Department said they have arrested two suspects in the riot, one on suspicion of vandalism and the other on suspicion of assault.
According to KOMO, police arrested a third person that night after the glass was broken at the Starbucks storefront in Pike Place Market.
Seattle and Portland have been the site of violent riots for months, with civil rights activists, anarchists, Antifa and other far-left groups protesting and expressing their discontent.
These protests originally began last summer, following the death of George Floyd, and became part of a national demonstration against racism and excessive police force. These protests have at times become violent, with protesters destroying property and clashing with police.
Former U.S. President Donald Trump signed a memorandum earlier this month to block individuals associated with the Antifa movement from entering the United States.
