A pandemic of the Chinese Communist virus (Wuhan pneumonia). President Joe Biden said Friday (Jan. 22) that there is nothing the administration can do to change the trajectory of the Epidemic in the coming months.
In a speech at the White House, Biden said, “There is nothing we can do in the next few months to change the course of the pandemic.”
The Chinese Communist Party virus originated in Wuhan, China. The Chinese Communist Party is accused of concealing the outbreak causing it to rapidly develop into a global pandemic. The virus has killed about 400,000 Americans in the past year, according to federal health department data.
Biden’s comments drew criticism. Former Michigan Free Will Party Rep. Justin Amash (D-Mich.) tweeted, “Haven’t we been told for months that restrictions (measures) and injunctions are necessary to change the trajectory of that pandemic for months to come?”
Tough lockdowns have been implemented in most states across the country to curb the spread of the CCP virus, leading to business closures and climbing unemployment rates.
Biden spoke the day after releasing his national strategy for the CCP virus, describing why he is pushing for a new bailout bill. He said a briefing from his economic team showed that the public health crisis caused by the outbreak “has not gotten better, it has gotten worse. He cited information about the latest wave of jobless claims and the rise in the number of new cases per day.
Defending his newly signed series of executive orders, Biden said many unemployed people are facing eviction or waiting for hours at Food banks to survive. Meanwhile, many people with jobs are “barely making ends meet, taking one step at a Time.” He added.
“The COVID-19 (Chinese Communist Virus-Induced Diseases) program passed in December is a first step, and as I said at the time, it’s just a down payment. We need more action, and we need to act fast.” He said.
Biden proposed a $1.9 trillion relief plan for the CCP virus last week. It includes an additional $1,400 check for those who have already received $600 in relief from the bill Congress passed last month, and an increase in the federal minimum wage to $15 an hour.
While waiting for Congress to consider the new proposals, his new executive order aims to enact relief measures, including ordering the Labor Department to consider allowing people who leave their jobs due to “unsafe working conditions” to receive unemployment insurance benefits and asking the Treasury Department to focus on providing relief to the millions of families who have not yet claimed it.
“I will sign an executive order directing efforts across the government to help the millions of Americans who have been severely harmed. All federal agencies are being asked to do what they can to provide relief to families, small businesses and communities. In the days ahead, I expect agencies to take action.” Biden said Friday.
“The virus is surging and many Americans are being harmed. We have 400,000 deaths and expect well over 600,000; families are going hungry; people are at risk of deportation; unemployment is rising again, and we must act. No matter how you look at this issue, we need to take action.” He added.
The source of his projected death toll is unknown, and the White House did not respond to requests for comment. The Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME) has repeatedly overestimated the number of deaths from the Chinese Communist virus. The institute estimated the death toll at 568,806 by May 1.
Biden’s comments came a day after presidential medical adviser Anthony Fauci told reporters that the number of new cases each day “may actually be plateauing with a turnaround.
“There’s always a lag (in the numbers). So note this; when there’s an increase in cases, a few weeks later it will show up in hospitalizations, in intensive care. And then a few weeks later, it will show up in the death numbers.” He added, “So the curves are almost contradictory; you see numbers that are flat and may be going down, but at the same time hospitalizations and deaths may actually be going up.”
