Dutch police confirmed on Saturday (23) that Canadian-Chinese drug lord Tse Chi Lop, known as the “Asian Guzman,” was arrested in Amsterdam on Friday (22). He is suspected of smuggling methamphetamine, heroin and ketamine, commonly known as ketamine, in more than 10 countries, and his group controls a US$70 billion (HK$546 billion) annual drug trade in the Asia-Pacific region.
Dutch police spokesman Thomas Aling said Tse was arrested at the airport in Amsterdam last Friday at the request of the Australian police and did not resist during his arrest. He expects Tse to be extradited to Australia for trial after attending the hearing. Allyn said Tse was listed as the most wanted man and that he was arrested based on information received. The Dutch police did not disclose any more information about the legal proceedings, and it is not known whether he has a lawyer.
The Australian Federal Police (AFP) led some 20 law enforcement agencies around the world in October 2019 in the largest-ever operation against an Asian drug cartel, targeting Xie Zhiluo. Xie Zhile, 56, was reportedly born in Guangdong province and has since settled in Toronto, Canada, but in recent years has frequently traveled between Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan. He is suspected of leading a code name “The Company” (The Company, tentative translation), from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, a number of gangsters composed of a large drug trafficking group.
He was arrested in Hong Kong in 1998 for importing heroin into the United States and extradited to New York for trial; he was sentenced to nine years in prison the following year and released in 2006. Company records show that Tse registered an investment company in Hong Kong in 2011, leading police to suspect that he had started dealing drugs again.
