House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) blasted new President Joe Biden‘s push for Amnesty for illegal immigrants on his first day in office, saying House Republicans are unlikely to support the agenda Wednesday morning (20).
In an exclusive interview with Breitbart News, McCarthy said Biden should abandon his push for amnesty for illegal immigrants in the U.S. and instead focus government efforts on getting Americans back to work, as millions of Americans continue to struggle to survive the Communist virus pandemic.
In a statement to Breitbart News, McCarthy criticized Biden’s amnesty plan by name, saying it would undermine the rule of law in the U.S. and encourage more illegal immigration while destroying the job prospects of Americans frustrated by the Epidemic.
In a statement, McCarthy said the Communist virus and the government-imposed embargo have put millions of Americans out of work and shut down small businesses. The nation’s top priority is to help Americans get back to work. But instead, the new administration’s first legislative priority is not to lower U.S. unemployment or reopen the economy, but a radical immigration bill that would grant citizenship to tens of millions of illegal immigrants.
McCarthy emphasized that the Biden Administration must focus first and foremost on helping America’s own citizens. His statement comes on the heels of a similar statement from Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.), a member of the “Gang of Eight” who authored the Senate’s immigration reform bill in 2013.
“Before we deal with immigration, we need to deal with the Chinese Communist virus and make sure that every American has a chance to get a good job and face the threat from the Chinese Communist Party,” Rubio said. Rubio said.
Rubio added that the U.S. should always welcome immigrants who want to become Americans, “but we need laws to determine who and how many people can come here,” and those laws must be followed and enforced. Rubio argued that there are many issues to work with Biden on, but a blanket amnesty for those who are here illegally is not included.
Despite Vice President Kamala Harris handing the Senate majority to Democrats after she was sworn in on Wednesday night, the tight margin makes it difficult for Democrats to pass their agenda in the Senate.
On the issue of amnesty, Republicans showed strong unity, unanimously opposing the proposal. On Biden’s inauguration day, McCarthy issued a statement signaling on behalf of House Republicans that amnesty was unlikely to pass among House Republicans and that they would not cooperate on the issue. The Biden immigration amnesty bill has very little hope of success.
