On his first day in office, President Joe Biden ordered the cancellation of a permit for the Keystone XL pipeline project from Canada to the United States, prompting public condemnation in both countries. Two days later, the Republican Party of Texas also issued a statement criticizing the move, with the headline directly calling Joe Biden “China Joe”.
The statement, published on the Texas Republican Party website on the 22nd, is entitled “China Joe’s Alert: Ending U.S. Energy Autonomy”. The statement warned Biden that the cancellation of the U.S.-Canada pipeline project would end U.S. energy autonomy and have a serious negative impact on the Texas economy.
The Biden Family has been accused of having interests with Beijing-backed Chinese companies in the wake of the “Hard Drivegate” scandal before the U.S. 2020 election, which gave rise to the name “China Joe.
The Republican Party of Texas statement said that the new president’s first major move in office was to “destroy the livelihoods of thousands of citizens” and that “Joe Biden will not lead America to greatness, but rather a reprise of Barack Obama”.
The statement also said that the American people need real leadership to keep America strong, economically growing and free and secure, and “unfortunately, no one in the Oval Office has those leadership qualities.
In addition, the Texas attorney general has filed a lawsuit in federal court against Biden, asking him to rescind an order he just issued suspending the deportation of certain illegal immigrants.
The Keystone XL pipeline project, originally planned to cost $8 billion, was intended to bring Canadian-produced oil to the United States quickly. The cancellation of the project would have been a huge blow to the Canadian oil-producing provinces and would have cost tens of thousands of jobs in both the U.S. and Canada.
After Biden ordered a halt to the pipeline project, a number of union organizations, including The Laborer’s International Union Of North America, which supported Biden’s election earlier, issued statements condemning the Biden Administration‘s decision.
U.S. environmentalists have resisted the pipeline project, arguing that it is both a culprit of climate change and a symbol of America’s unwillingness to move away from an oil-based economy. As early as a few days before Biden took office, it was rumored that he would cancel the project.
But former President Trump‘s eldest son Donald Trump Jr. tweeted on the 22nd that the Biden administration’s cancellation of the pipeline project would only force oil companies to spend more money relying on billionaire Warren Buffett’s railroad to deliver oil, “not a policy about the environment, but about the Democratic Party donors in return.”
According to the book “The Devil Rules Our World” by the Epoch Times editorial board, using the pretext of “protecting the environment” to suppress the economic development of democracies is part of the communists’ plan.
