Fb glitch prevents thousands of users worldwide from logging in and forcing Hong Kong users to log out

The US social network Facebook (Fb) was down on Friday night (22nd) local Time, thousands of users in Europe and the US were forced to log out and could not log in again. Some iPhone users in Hong Kong were also forced to log out of their Facebook accounts, but not as if they were unable to log in again as users in Europe and the United States; Fb has not yet responded to the incident.

Downdetector, a website that monitors failures, said that Fb broke down at 10 p.m. Eastern time on Friday (about 11 a.m. Hong Kong time on Saturday), and a large number of cell phone users were unable to log in again after their accounts were logged out, including the inability to use instant messaging services and web interfaces, and some users even claimed that a large number of pornographic videos appeared on their pages.

It is unknown whether the failure was a hack or a system failure, and the scale of the impact. One affected user recalled, “Fb said my usage period had expired, my password was invalid, and when I tried to reset my password, it said my account did not exist.”
