Flags are lowered to half-staff in Washington, D.C., on Sept. 16, 2013. On that day, a gunman opened fire at the Navy headquarters compound, killing 12 people.
The mayor of a small town in Tennessee ordered his town’s flag lowered by half on the day of Biden‘s inauguration (20). The information was posted on Facebook and sparked an outcry.
Robert T. Keeton III, mayor of the town of Bruceton in Carroll County, Tennessee, announced Wednesday that the town was holding a mourning event and that the town’s flag was lowered to half-staff.

Keaton wrote on his Facebook page, “The Town of Bruceton mourns for our Republic and our loss of freedoms. We mourn the victims of the Chinese plague and the people who have suffered its ravages. We pray that God will save and restore us and that we will not fall into the clutches of communism.”
Keaton added that his post was “just a description and a prayer for our country.”
Some Facebook users criticized Keaton’s post, accusing him of actions related to the change of ownership of the White House, saying he was venting his anger. Keaton denied this, however, saying the lowering of flags at half-mast had nothing to do with Biden’s inauguration.
However, there were many who praised the mayor’s post.
“I respect Robert today more than ever.” One person stated.
“Thank you, Mr. Mayor! Please continue to stand your ground.” Another commented.
Keaton later clarified on his message, saying it was a reaction to the Communist virus pandemic and the recent deaths in the area.
“It’s just a comment and a prayer for our country.” “I’m an attorney and I’m seeing our constitutional rights being trampled on almost daily and I’m concerned for our republic,” he explained to local media outlet The Jackson Sun.
Keaton also said he is concerned that social media platforms do not allow certain communications on their websites.
“It’s not right, and the government is not doing anything about it.” Keaton stressed, “And I was raised to believe that everybody has the right to say what they want to say, and if somebody disagrees with you, that’s how Life is supposed to be.”
He told the Jackson Sun that it had nothing to do with “the inauguration that happened today. He added, “The nursing Home called City Hall and we have a man in his 60s who died yesterday from the virus. He was alone in the nursing home and he died alone,” he said.
