Trump: High court misjudgment allows abortion resulting in the loss of 50 million innocent lives

President Trump said in a statement Monday, Jan. 18, that the U.S. Supreme Court’s “constitutionally flawed” Roe v. Wade decision nearly 50 years ago dramatically expanded the scope of abortion, resulting in the killing of tens of millions of unborn babies.

In a statement, Trump said, “This month, we mark the nearly 50th anniversary of the U.S. Supreme Court’s Roe v. Wade decision. This constitutionally flawed ruling struck down state laws banning abortion and led to the loss of more than 50 million innocent lives.”

The statement continued, “But strong mothers, courageous students, awesome community members and people of faith are leading a powerful movement to awaken the conscience of Americans and restore the belief that ‘every life is worthy of respect, protection and care.'”

Trump said that thanks to the dedication of countless anti-abortion pioneers, the call for the sanctity of life is now louder than ever before as everyone in America recognizes it. “Over the past decade, the abortion rate has been steadily declining, and today, more than three out of every four Americans support restricting abortion.”

Trump argued that the statement was in celebration of National Sanctity of Human Life Day.

In the statement, Trump also said, “As a nation, restoring a culture of respect for the sanctity of life is fundamental to solving our nation’s most pressing problems. When everyone is considered a favorite of God, individuals can reach their full potential, communities thrive, and America becomes a more hopeful and free place.”

Trump cited this as the reason why he was honored to be the first president in U.S. history to participate in the March for Life and why he is taking action to improve the U.S. adoption and foster care system and expand medical services for single mothers.

In the 1973 case of Roe v. Wade, the justices of the U.S. Supreme Court voted 7 to 2 to declare Texas’ anti-abortion law unconstitutional. Trump dissented from the Roe v. Wade decision, while Biden supported it.

Biden told the crowd on the campaign trail that he would work to protect the Supreme Court decision as a matter of law.

Polls show that most Americans do not support abortion in the middle and late stages of pregnancy, while some lawmakers are trying to legalize all abortions for pregnant women before they give birth.
