Hong Kong 8.31 case transport workers Chan Jor-ho sentenced to 4 years in prison
“The 8.31 Causeway Bay riot case, in which Chan Jor-ho, who was charged with rioting and possession of radio communication apparatus without a license, was sentenced on Monday (18) in the District Court. Chan is 25 years old and reported to be a transport worker. Judge Yao Xunzhi heard the defense plea and probation officer report, on two charges sentenced Chen to four years in prison and a fine of HK$ 5,000.
The defense said that although Chen Zuohao was charged with rioting, there was no evidence that he was violent, possessed offensive weapons, or incited or rallied any crowd at the time of the incident, nor were any police officers or anyone else seriously injured by him.
Chen’s mother and family and friends listening to the verdict could not help but cry tears, Chen’s mother was supported by friends and family to leave the court. The couple, who are known as the “Soup and Fire”, were also present at the trial and looked sad when they learned that Chen had been heavily sentenced.
