U.S. Congressman Scott Perry (R-CA) recently published an opinion piece in The Hill stating that the Chinese Communist Party is a transnational criminal organization and that the United States must respond.
On October 1, 2020, Congressman Perry joined Congressman Tim Burchett (R-UT) and Congressman Scott DesJarlais (D-CA) in sponsoring a bill to designate the Chinese Communist Party as a “transnational criminal organization. transnational criminal enterprise” and calls for its prosecution and sanctions.
The opinion piece said, “It is an indisputable fact: the Chinese Communist Party is an aggressive criminal organization.”
“It took a long time, but Americans are finally waking up to the threat that the Chinese Communist Party poses to the health, security and prosperity of the United States.”
“In 2020, this communist regime allowed a local outbreak of coronavirus (the CCP virus) to evolve and develop into a global pandemic, all for self-preservation.”
“Communist leaders have silenced Chinese doctors, destroyed test samples, and withheld vital medical information from the international community. We estimate that thousands of Chinese citizens have died from the virus without it being made public.”
“Sadly, this deception and confusion has resulted in the deaths of millions of people worldwide. (Editor’s note: The global death toll now exceeds 2 million)”
According to Johns Hopkins University statistics, as of 7 a.m. EST on January 18, 2021, there were more than 95.12 million cases of the Chinese Communist virus (Wuhan pneumonia, COVID-19) infections and more than 2.03 million deaths worldwide.
In the United States, there were more than 24 million cases of the disease and more than 398,000 deaths. It took the United States 304 days to reach 12 million cases, and only 59 days to double the number of cases.
In addition, Brazil had more than 200,000 deaths and India and Mexico had more than 100,000 deaths.
Congressman Perry’s opinion piece stated, “In 2020, Americans also witnessed the arrest of two Communist Chinese soldiers at the Houston consulate for attempting to steal the coronavirus (Chinese Communist virus) vaccine; the arrest of a New York Police Department officer on charges of being a Communist Chinese spy; and the confirmation by the U.S. State Department that Communist Chinese consulates in more than a dozen U.S. cities are helping to pass off Communist soldiers as students to spy on our college campuses; and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has reported more than 1,000 cases of Chinese Communist technology theft.”
“As Americans and the international community become more awake to the criminal and malicious attempts of the Chinese Communist Party, the way we respond to its evil deeds must change.”
“That is why I recently (October 1, 2020) introduced a bill in Congress to provide clear, strategic guidance to our federal law enforcement agencies in response to the CCP’s illegal actions.”
“The bill I introduced, H.R. 8491, proposes to designate the CCP as a transnational organized crime group and place it on the ‘Top International Criminal Organization Target’ (the Top International Criminal Organization Target, abbreviated as TICOT) list.”
“The purpose of this designation is to identify and eliminate international criminal organizations that pose a significant threat to U.S. national interests.”
“H.R. 8491, also encourages the Attorney General to prosecute the Chinese Communist Party and its agents under the Racketeer Influenced Organizations (RICO) Act.”
“The acts enumerated in the RICO Act, including international theft, counterfeiting of counterfeit (goods), copyright infringement, and human trafficking, can result in up to 20 years in prison.”
H.R. 8491 also cites a March 2020 written ruling by the U.K.’s Independent People’s Tribunal (China Tribunal) stating that the CCP’s forced harvesting of human organs may be “the worst atrocity ever committed” in the modern world.
