The book contract was canceled Holly’s new book found another publisher

U.S. Senator Josh Hawley (D-CA) has had a new book he authored canceled by publisher Simon & Schuster for challenging the Electoral College vote. Another publisher will now publish Hawley’s book.

Hawley challenged the Pennsylvania Electoral College vote and voted against the Arizona Electoral College vote in a joint session of Congress on Jan. 6. Publishers Simon & Schuster canceled Hawley’s book contract.

Washington, D.C.-based Regnery Publishing confirmed Monday (Jan. 18) that it will publish Hawley’s new book, noting that the senator forcefully condemned the attack on the Capitol. The company said Hawley has fallen victim to what it calls “cancel culture. “Cancel culture” is a movement to ban things that contradict leftist dogma.

Thomas Spence, president and publisher of Regnery Publishing, said in a statement that “seeing them in an ‘awakened’ (Woke) mob (a political term for a conscious and active interest in significant facts or issues, especially racial or social justice issues) is a good way to get the word out. It’s demoralizing to see them cower before the ‘woke’ (Woke) mob, which Senator Hawley correctly defines as an ‘awakened’ mob. Regnery (the publisher) stands proudly by his side, and the warnings about censorship in his book are clearly imminent.”

The book, written by former Missouri Attorney General Hawley, is titled “The Tyranny of Big Tech. In the book, according to the publisher, “he shows how Facebook, Amazon, Google, Twitter and other digital giants have abused the enormous market power and political influence they possess to stifle competition.”

Regnery Publishing adds, “To explain why current policies are failing us, he (Hawley) identifies alternative ways to break Big Tech’s grip on our freedoms.”

Regnery recently published a new book on the Supreme Court by Senator Ted Cruz (R-Texas).

Hawley’s book, “The Tyranny of Big Tech,” will be published in the spring of 2021.

Simon & Schuster is part of the CBS Group, one of the top six publishers in the United States.

In canceling Hawley’s book contract, Simon & Schuster said at the time that Hawley’s opposition to electoral votes in certain states during a joint session of Congress led to their decision to cancel the publishing contract.

In a statement, the company said, “As publishers, it is always our mission to spread a variety of voices and perspectives, while at the same time taking seriously our larger public responsibility as citizens, we cannot support Senator Hawley after his involvement in ‘dangerous threats.’ “

At the time, Hawley said in a statement that Simon & Schuster canceled the contract “because I led the (challenge) debate on election integrity in the Senate on behalf of my constituents, and they have now decided to redefine it (the act of challenge) as ‘sedition (rebellion).'”

“Let me be clear, this is not just a contract dispute, this is a direct attack on the First Amendment. Only ‘approved speech’ can be published now, and this is an attempt by the left to silence all those they disagree with. I will do everything in my power to fight this phenomenon. See you in court.”
