Always be on guard against China! Pence: Biden should continue the anti-China line

President Donald Trump has set the tone for the U.S. confrontation with China during his presidency, and there is now concern about the Biden administration’s approach. Vice President Mike Pence again mentioned China’s ambitions for the Indo-Pacific region during a visit to a California naval base on June 16, calling on the incoming Biden administration to be “ever vigilant” against China, Forsyth News reported on Sunday.

According to the report, Pence visited Naval Air Station Lemoore, California, wearing the Navy’s military green fighter pilot’s jacket, and gave a 20-minute talk to about 80 officers and soldiers present, saying that China is “determined” to control the Indo-Pacific region through military provocation and debt diplomacy. With a new administration about to take office, we Americans must clearly remember that to preserve freedom, we must be ‘eternally vigilant’ (eternal vigilance).

Pence stressed that a free and open Indo-Pacific region is important to U.S. prosperity, security, and freedom around the world, and called on the Biden administration to continue Trump’s policy toward China and confront Chinese aggression and trade issues.

In addition, Pence also praised the Trump administration’s diplomatic achievements, saying that for the first time in decades, the United States has not been involved in a new war during Trump’s presidency; and that the massive increase in defense funding during Trump’s presidency is the most since the Reagan administration, successfully repairing the “arsenal of democracy.
