Worried about the caravan of illegal immigrants again influx of Chinese in California rush to move out

Convoys of migrants from Central American countries attempt to enter the United States through Mexico on Oct. 17, 2018.

Recently, news that three groups of illegal Honduran immigrants are approaching the United States in 2021 blew up in Chinese circles in California. Many Chinese are worried that President Trump‘s already established policy of blocking illegal immigrants will be changed by the congressionally certified President-elect Biden, which may result in a large influx of illegal immigrants into the U.S., especially into California, which has a sanctuary state policy, and many have already started to act to move out of California in a hurry.

According to earlier media reports, at least 3,000 nationals of Central American countries have left Honduras as part of the first caravan, but the actual number is much higher.

On Jan. 16, Guatemalan soldiers blocked up to 9,000 Honduran migrants who intended to enter the United States illegally. Mexican authorities are also making a show of force to stop the caravan from crossing the border.

Sources are circulating that these illegal immigrants from Honduras and other Central American countries are coming straight to the U.S. because they are expecting Biden to ease immigration policies.

May Lu, a Chinese woman, said there are hundreds of people in her circle of friends who are discussing issues related to illegal immigration these days. “People are very worried, and it is said that one of the top places for this group of illegal immigrants is California. California is notorious for welcoming illegal immigrants anyway, and Newsom gave money to illegal immigrants during the epidemic. But such a large group of people, in case they really succeed in coming in, it is really too terrible. It could all be endless and no peace afterwards.”

She described several of her friends who have moved to Florida, Arkansas and Texas, respectively. “There are also people who are constantly talking about whether they can continue to live in California. I have several other friends who have sold their houses, packed their bags as a family and plan to leave (California) by Jan. 20.”

Another Chinese-American, Ting, who spread the news widely online, believes the caravan of illegal immigrants has always been a nightmare for Americans. “This New Year has just started and I’ve heard that there are already several groups of illegal immigrants coming. Before because President Trump forcefully blocked it, but now the situation is hard to say.”

Migrant invasion may lead to new wave of moving out

Honduras is a country that has suffered from an invasion of communist ideology and is now one of the poorest and most unequal countries in Latin America.

Over the past four years, the Trump administration, in an effort to stem the invasion of illegal immigrants from these Central American countries into the United States, has finalized agreements with Guatemala, El Salvador and Honduras to restrict illegal immigrants from seeking asylum in the United States. Because of this, several previous groups of such illegal immigrants caravan operation, was able to be stopped.

Biden has long said that he would overturn the Trump administration’s immigration policies when he took office. Last December 29, the acting director of U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), Mark Morgan, said that if Biden enters the White House and cancels the humanitarian agreement that helps protect the southern border of the United States, it will likely lead to a “wave” of illegal immigrants crossing the border.

I don’t think I can stay in California anymore,” said Ms. Gao, a Chinese national who has moved from Los Angeles County to Florida. I had a small restaurant in Los Angeles before I moved away, and after the epidemic came, the government’s repeated bans simply cut off our small business. Look at the homeless people sleeping in the streets downtown and the increasing crime rate of illegal immigrants. Now we have to put in batches of illegal immigrants, no need to think, these illegal immigrants must be interested in California, California gives illegal immigrants money ah. So I think it’s better to move out as soon as possible, it’s better for me and for my children.”

Ms. Gao said, “The left is using humanitarianism as an excuse to simply open the door to welcome illegal immigrants, to take our (taxpayer) money and give it to illegal immigrants, which is openly robbing.” Some of her friends and regular customers in Los Angeles are currently considering moving to other states, and a new wave of relocation has been set off by her circle of friends.
