According to a federal report, 55 people have died in the United States after receiving the COVID-19 vaccine. The deaths occurred among people who received the Moderna vaccine and the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine.
According to reports submitted to a federal system, 55 people died in the United States after receiving the COVID-19 (pneumonia disease caused by the Chinese communist virus) vaccine. However, whether these deaths were caused by the vaccine is still under investigation.
The report shows that deaths have occurred in people who received both the Moderna vaccine and the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine.
The “Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System” (VAERS), is a federal database. The system is passive, meaning that reports are not collected automatically and must be submitted for them to work. VAERS reports can be submitted by anyone, including health care providers, patients or family members.
The reporting system’s website suggests that VAERS reports “often lack detail and may sometimes contain incorrect information,” although reports on VAERS “represent only a small fraction of actual adverse events,” although underreporting is believed to be less common for serious events.
In some cases, patients died within days of receiving the COVID-19 vaccine, and VAERS reported that in one incident, a 66-year-old resident of Colorado was sleepy and stayed in bed the day after receiving the Moderna vaccine. Early the next morning, Christmas Day, the man “was found lying motionless in bed, pale, eyes half open, foam coming out of his mouth and unresponsive” and “he was not breathing and did not have a pulse”.
In another case, a 93-year-old South Dakota man was given the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine around 11 a.m. on Jan. 4. About two hours later, he said he was very tired and could not continue with physical therapy. He was taken back to his room, where he said his legs felt heavy. Soon after, he stopped breathing. A nurse announced a “do-not-resuscitate” order.
Moderna and Pfizer did not respond to requests for comment. Abigail Capobianco, a spokeswoman for the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), told The Epoch Times by email that any reports of deaths after vaccination would be “promptly and rigorously investigated” by the FDA in conjunction with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). “.
Officials from the agencies work with health care providers to obtain medical history and clinical follow-up information and conduct clinical case reviews, she said. She added, “It is important to note that it is generally not possible to find out from VAERS data whether the vaccine caused the adverse event.”
Health officials on the VAERS website caution that reporting to the system does not prove that the vaccine caused the adverse event. The system does not require reporters to prove whether a vaccine caused an adverse event.
In addition to the deaths, people reported 96 life-threatening events following COVID-19 vaccination, as well as 24 permanent disabilities, 225 hospitalizations and 1,388 emergency room visits.
Neither the CDC nor the FDA has a central database for reporting adverse events, and on Jan. 6, Nancy Messonnier, director of the CDC’s National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases, said the incidence of serious allergic reactions to COVID-19 vaccine was 11.1 per million vaccinations, compared with the corresponding figure of 1.3 per million for influenza vaccine.
As of Jan. 15, 10.5 million Americans had received the COVID-19 vaccine. Federal health officials said an investigation into adverse events is underway, but the vaccines remain safe to administer.
“These are safe and effective vaccines. We have good data to prove that.” Maisonnier said.
Gregory Michael, a 56-year-old health care worker at Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami, Florida, was given the vaccine on Dec. 18, 2020. and died 16 days later. The death has raised eyebrows.
Michael’s wife, Heidi Neckelmann, said on Facebook that her husband was “perfectly healthy” before he was vaccinated. She said he was admitted to the intensive care unit and diagnosed with acute idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura ((ITP), caused by a reaction to the vaccine. Michael eventually passed away without treatment.
“He was a pro-vaccine advocate, which is why he went ahead with the vaccination himself,” wrote Neckelman, “I believe people should realize that side effects happen, that it (the vaccine) is not beneficial for everyone, and in this case, it destroyed a beautiful life, a perfect family, and affects many people in society. Don’t let his death go to waste, please get this message out in the news and save more lives.”
In a statement, Pfizer told news outlets that there is no evidence of a link between the death and its vaccine.
“Pfizer and BioNTech are aware that a healthcare professional died 16 days after receiving the first dose of BNT162b2,” Pfizer said in a statement, “in a very unusual clinical case of severe thrombocytopenia, a condition that reduces the body’s ability to clot and stop internal bleeding.”
“We are actively investigating this case, but we do not believe at this time that there is any direct link to the vaccine.” The company added, “No relevant safety signals have been identified to date in our clinical trials, post-marketing experience, or mRNA vaccine platform. To date, millions of people have been vaccinated and we are closely monitoring all adverse events in individuals who have received our vaccine.”
