High number of cases in Jihe province, Shanghai people unwell for many days after receiving domestic vaccine

The outbreak continues to heat up in China’s Hebei and Heilongjiang provinces. The confirmed cases in Hebei this Thursday surpassed the previous day’s 81 cases, reaching 90. The number of infections nationwide stands at 144 cases. In addition, some civil aviation system personnel in Shanghai had headaches and dizziness from the domestic vaccine, with side effects lasting four days.

The health and Wellness Commission of Hebei Province informed on the 15th that on the 14th day, the province added 90 local confirmed cases of new crown pneumonia, including 84 cases reported in Shijiazhuang and 6 cases reported in Xingtai. Heilongjiang Province held a press conference to inform that, as of 17:00 on the 14th, Suihua City, Heilongjiang reported a total of 92 confirmed cases of new crown pneumonia and 110 cases of asymptomatic infections.

This Thursday night at 8:00 pm, some residents of Shijiazhuang community in the courtyard with the five-star red flag rally, they chanted “cheer Shijiazhuang, cheer my home!” They sang “I and my country”. They also said they appreciated the hard-working community members and property owners. Some people also connected their cell phones to Bluetooth and played the accompaniment at the window. Authorities are said not to have intervened.

Residents in infected areas panic for fear of being infected

Heilongjiang Suihua City resident Li Tianyou said to the station that many people in the area are panicking and worried about the further expansion of the epidemic: “It’s too scary, we have to quarantine, we can’t go out, we have to save our lives. One person infected others with the disease, two patients did infect many people, depending on how the government arranged it. I’m also inquiring where the source of infection is coming from, and I’m checking it out.”

Starting this Sunday, highways to Beijing were cut off in Hebei and Inner Mongolia, and in the northeast. The authorities’ explanation is to ensure the safety of Beijing residents. Beijing resident Gao Mingsheng told the station that no one dares to drive out of the city these days as foreign evacuations are currently banned from entering Beijing and local vehicles in Beijing will not be able to return if they drive out of the capital.

The city is divided into zones according to the level of the epidemic

On the other hand, civil servants and residents of some neighborhoods in Beijing are being vaccinated with domestic vaccines. Mr. Song, a retired civil servant in Beijing, told the station, “More than a million people in Beijing have already been vaccinated, and they are starting to do so one by one, starting with people under 60. Basically, residents don’t go out much anymore. Beijing is now divided into high-risk, medium-risk and low-risk areas.

When it comes to domestic vaccines, most of China’s population is skeptical, and a press conference held on January 13 by China’s State Council Joint Prevention and Control Mechanism said that more than 10 million doses of the new coronavirus vaccine have been administered to key populations since the vaccination was implemented on December 15, 2020. Vaccine manufacturer Sinopharm also said that so far, no one has experienced serious adverse reactions.

People in Shanghai drowsy after vaccination

However, a Shanghai traveler via Hong Kong, Ms. Dai Lanfang, told the station that executives from several departments of a Shanghai airline company collectively experienced side effects such as dizziness, drowsiness and loss of normal mobility after receiving the vaccine on Jan. 11. She said, “After all the civilian staff of their (airline) company got the vaccine, everyone collapsed. The symptoms are headache and drowsiness and other kinds of reactions have come out, yesterday (13th) afternoon has been a little better, the evening again not, the office has been seven down, all have been very affected by work. They were given the Kexing vaccine. They had the first shot on the 11th, and they still had some problems until yesterday, but today they should all be fine, I heard. They had the second shot on January 26.”

Huang Ping, a Shandong businessman who has been concerned about China’s problematic vaccines for years, told the station that Zhang Wenhong, director of the infection department at Huashan Hospital affiliated with Fudan University in Shanghai, had given the answer on how to choose quality vaccines. “Regarding the quality of domestic vaccines, Zhang Wenhong, the teacher, has answered that it is the difference between domestic and imported cars. What’s more, Pfizer vaccine also has some side effects, only the side effects of China’s domestic vaccines are very many, said there are more than seventy kinds.”

The effectiveness of Kexing Holdings’ new crown vaccine was toned down to 50.4 percent in late trials in Brazil, much lower than earlier results but just under the WHO minimum standard of 50 percent.
