U.S. President Donald Trump may release top-secret information about the Wuhan pneumonia virus leaked from the Wuhan Institute of Virus Research, targeting China for a final blow before he leaves office, the Sun reported on 12 December.
According to the report, British officials are on “urgent alert” for the possibility that the Trump administration may present evidence of the alleged virus leak in the penultimate moments of his term. They believe the State Department will reveal evidence of a virus leak from the Wuhan Institute of Virus Research and the ties of its scientists to the People’s Liberation Army.
White House national security adviser O’Brien warned on Nov. 11 that “the world cannot continue to pay a heavy price for its naiveté and even collusion with Beijing to commit irresponsible and harmful acts, whether those acts are ending the rule of law in Hong Kong or failing to cooperate with health officials in responding to the outbreak.” He stressed that the U.S. is examining further response options.
Well-informed diplomatic sources quoted by The Sun said anything could happen in the coming days, with the source of the virus at the top of the list.
British government sources added that there is growing talk that Trump and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo are planning to deal a head-on blow to the Chinese Communist Party’s handling of the virus and lung.
A team of international experts from the World Health Organization will fly to Wuhan, China, this Thursday to investigate the source of the virus in Wuhan New Crown.
