Trump: 25th Amendment poses zero risk to me, but will keep bothering Biden

President Donald Trump responded Tuesday (Jan. 12) in Texas to congressional efforts to use the 25th Amendment to remove the president from office. He said the 25th Amendment is not a risk to him, but will “come back” to haunt the Biden administration in the future.

Speaking in the Alamo, Texas, Trump said, “The 25th Amendment is a zero risk to me, but it will come back and haunt Joe Biden and the Biden administration. As the saying goes, beware of what you wish for.” (The 25th Amendment is of zero risk to me but will come back to haunt Joe Biden and the Biden administration. As the expression goes, be careful what you wish for.)

Speaking in front of the iconic border wall in the Alamo City, Trump denounced the House Democrats’ impeachment effort, calling it a continuation of the “witch hunt” that has been waged against him since he took office.

It was Trump’s first public appearance since Congress certified the election results last Wednesday.

Democrats are now urging Trump’s cabinet to use the 25th Amendment to remove Trump from the presidency. The Democratic-controlled House of Representatives is also pushing for a resolution threatening to introduce another impeachment bill in the House this week if Trump’s cabinet does not act.

After Congress certified it, Trump announced that he would hand over power in an orderly fashion. However, he never admitted defeat and also said he would not attend the inauguration ceremony on January 20.
