The Wuhan pneumonia (novel coronavirus disease, COVID-19) epidemic is a serious global epidemic, and a new study shows that patients with Wuhan pneumonia continue to experience a variety of symptoms, including fatigue and difficulty sleeping, six months after infection.
According to CNN, in a study published in the authoritative medical journal The Tickle, scientists conducted long-term follow-up of more than 1,700 infected patients in Wuhan, China, where the disease originated, and found that as many as 76 percent of the patients still had various symptoms one month after discharge from the hospital, while 63 percent and 26 percent of the patients still had symptoms such as fatigue and sleep difficulties, respectively, six months after diagnosis.
Even after recovering from Wuhan pneumonia, people may still have long-term psychological complications, with up to 23% of patients experiencing symptoms such as anxiety and depression, according to the study.
The researchers said that patients recovering from more severe disease could still see the damage caused by the disease to the lungs when they received chest X-rays, and because wu lung is a “young disease,” there is not enough evidence to show whether the damage to the patient’s lungs is permanent and irreversible.
