The price quoted by Wucheng Danpinghe rose by 8 percent, with a quotation of 1.235 yuan (RMB, same below) per catty (500 grams); Zhao Luo flour rose by 5 percent, with a quotation of 1.245 yuan per catty; and Huasheng flour rose by 5 percent, with a quotation of 1.265 yuan per catty.

Quality wheat prices have also rebounded slightly, including “Jinan 17” quoted at 2,640 yuan per ton, “Zheng Mai 366” quoted at 2,600 yuan per ton, “Gao You 2018” quoted at 2,600 yuan per ton.

News that the market is now the new wheat stocks reduced, noodle enterprises also began to grab, coupled with rising corn prices to drive wheat prices rebound. And now the yellow calendar New Year is approaching, the end consumption demand also ushered in a sustained rise, these factors will drive up wheat prices.

Corn prices in the main production areas have ushered in a big rise, Henan offer has successively broken through the 2600 yuan / ton mark, Shandong successively rose to 2700 yuan mark, the northeast is also sprinting to 2600 yuan. The offer on January 5 shows that the price of corn in Shandong ushered in a big rise, generally by 40 yuan to 80 yuan / ton, of which, Zaozhuang Xinde rose 30 yuan, quoted at 2,770 yuan / ton; the highest offer is Fang Yingxuan, up 20 yuan, quoted at 2,800 yuan / ton, breaking through the historic high price of 1.4 yuan / catty (500 grams).

Offers in Henan and Hebei are also rising sharply, with Pengyuan corn up 60 yuan, quoted at 2,700 yuan, breaking through a new high in northern China.

Prices also rose in the northeast, with Xintianlong up 50 yuan and quoted at 2,450 yuan/ton; and Inner Mongolia’s Fufeng up 60 yuan and quoted at 2,660 yuan/ton.

Corn prices have driven up the price of downstream products. Shandong corn starch was 3,300 yuan/ton, 100 yuan higher compared with before New Year’s Day.

Since last year, the price of corn on the mainland has been rising due to a big rise in demand, and its price rose from 1,800 yuan/ton at the beginning of the year to 2,700 yuan/ton at the end of the year.

Reports expect the shortage of corn to be as high as 28 million tons in 2021, with private institutions predicting 60 million tons. This news also foretells that corn prices will rise, and may break through 1.5 yuan/catty (500 grams) in the middle of 2021.
