The situation of the new crown epidemic in China is becoming increasingly critical, with several cities seeing cases of new crown pneumonia diagnosed only after the end of the 14-day quarantine period. Currently, Beijing, Shenzhen, Dalian and Zhejiang provinces and cities have extended the 14-day quarantine period.
Among them, the Beijing municipal government announced on January 5 that a 14+7-day health management measure will be implemented for people entering Beijing, stipulating that if people, articles or environment on an inbound flight are tested positive by customs on the spot or within 14 days, people entering on the same flight will be placed in home or intensive quarantine for an additional 7 days on top of the 14-day quarantine period.
Shenzhen has also implemented a 14+7-day quarantine, while Dalian requires four tests to be conducted on days 1, 7, 13, and 20 of the entry quarantine, and can only be released if all results are negative.
In Zhejiang Province, a longer quarantine observation period of 14+7+7 was implemented. In addition to the 14 days of centralized quarantine, those eligible for release from quarantine had 7 days of home quarantine, followed by 7 days of daily health testing and nucleic acid testing.
At the same time, the Chinese government has further emphasized epidemic prevention measures in public places. The Chinese Ministry of Commerce published guidelines for epidemic prevention on Jan. 5, requiring shopping malls and supermarkets to refuse entry to people not wearing masks. It also stipulates that public restrooms must be cleaned and disinfected no less than three times a day, and customers must maintain a safe distance of more than one meter when standing in line to pay their bills.
