The Red Star News reported that the deceased student was 24-year-old Wang Moulin, a second-year female student at Dalian Polytechnic Institute of Materials Science and Engineering. The driver involved is Zou Mouyan (Zou Jiyan), a professor and doctoral supervisor in the Department of Electronic Information and Electrical Engineering at Dalian Polytechnic University.
Wang Moulin’s classmate Zhang Minmin (a pseudonym) said that she and Wang Moulin is Dalian Polytechnic University undergraduate classmates, September 2015 into the Dalian Polytechnic Institute of Materials Science and Engineering undergraduate study, learning metal materials engineering, when Wang Moulin also served as the school’s student union sports department, July 2019 undergraduate graduation, when Wang Moulin has high scores to stay in the alma mater to study.
The perpetrator, Zou Mouyan, had earlier served as vice president of Dalian Polytechnic University, and in the second half of 2010 Zou Mouyan stopped serving as vice president of Dalian Polytechnic University and went to serve as president of Dalian University of Technology from August 2010 to October 2015. When Zou Mouyan retired from the presidency of Dalian University of Technology, Zou Mouyan returned to teach at Dalian Polytechnic University as a professor and doctoral supervisor in the Department of Electronic Information and Electrical Engineering at Dalian Polytechnic University.
