Jobs had criticized Adobe Flash for its flaws

Adobe announced on Thursday that Flash, its Internet multimedia software, will be discontinued on January 1, and that all content made in Flash will no longer work in Flash Player from January 12.

Adobe posted the news on its official web site and strongly recommended that users immediately uninstall Flash Player to maintain their computer systems. Adobe announced back in 2017 that it planned to phase out the Flash Player plug-in by the end of 2020. The company said at the time that Flash had completed its mission after a number of new applications had been developed over the past few years that could port Flash content to HTML5, WebGL, and WebAssembly formats.

Flash, first introduced in 1996, used to be a popular multimedia software for the Internet, but Steve Jobs, the founder of Apple inc., has criticized Flash for not allowing his products to use it, citing various flaws such as unsafe software and power consumption.
